The Einstein Foundation Berlin is supporting a new research project aimed at improving the reliability of adiabatic quantum computing. Led by Prof. Christiane Koch (Freie Universität Berlin) in collaboration with Adi Pick and Prof. Raam Uzdin (Hebrew University of Jerusalem), the project “Error Suppression, Correction, and Mitigation in Adiabatic Quantum Computation” will develop strategies for error correction and mitigation tailored to analog quantum methods.
Unlike digital quantum computing, which operates in discrete steps, adiabatic quantum computing evolves continuously to solve complex problems in fields such as physics, finance, and logistics. Achieving a true quantum advantage requires detecting and correcting errors within the system. While most research has focused on digital quantum computing, this project addresses a critical gap for analog approaches.
With this initiative, Berlin strengthens its position as a leading hub for quantum technologies and interdisciplinary cutting-edge research.
