BERLIN QUANTUM - The joint initiative by Berlin's business community, research institutions and universities aims to make Berlin an international hotspot for the research and development of quantum technologies.
BERLIN QUANTUM pursues an interdisciplinary and cross-sector vision to make Berlin a global leader in the field of quantum technologies and invites all interested parties to participate in this exciting development and jointly shape the future of quantum technologies.
The common vision is to drive forward excellent research and to promote the transfer of quantum technologies into the diverse fields of application and to utilise the associated potential for companies and the economy. To this end, the following institutions are working together to develop suitable activities and formats.
BERLIN QUANTUM is an open initiative to everyone who is working and devloping quantum technologies in Berlin, wants to become part of the ecosystem or is just interested in getting to know what's happening in the German capital city about QT. BERLIN QUANTUM is coordinated by:

- Berlin Partner für Wirtschaft und Technologie GmbH
At the same time, a new innovation hub and co-working space for quantum technologies in Berlin will be unveiled at the Berlin Adlershof Innovation and Start-up Centre: the Leap. It offers a platform for dialogue, networking and collaboration between players from science, business and the start-up scene who want to explore the potential and challenges of quantum technologies and to gain an insight into Berlin's quantum ecosystem.
The city of Berlin is supporting this initiative with € 25 Mio. from the Innovation Promotion Fund for the next five years (end 2026).
Mission Statement
BERLIN QUANTUM aims to promote Berlin as a globally recognized, collaborative research community that stimulates innovation in quantum science and technology. We see our particular strengths in the areas of quantum photonics implementations and quantum information theory, and we aim to make Berlin one of the three most attractive regions in Europe in these fields. To achieve this goal, it is crucial that researchers at all career levels, from students to postdocs to faculty members, as well as quantum entrepreneurs, experience Berlin as an ideal place to create a highly interactive and diverse scientific community with excellent talent support.

- exploring and exploiting the transformative power of quantum science and driving progress in quantum science and technology through basic research, innovation and entrepreneurship.
- understanding the potential and limitations of quantum devices, from small to complex, and implementing and applying them using real-world photonic architectures.
- supporting a collaborative environment that fosters the kind of research necessary for disruptive concepts and ideas.
- supporting junior research groups, which we consider to be a key contributor, and committing to the careers of their group leaders.
BERLIN QUANTUM is committed to cooperation between the state initiatives, associations and organisations in quantum technologies in order to further strengthen and advance Germany as a location for cutting-edge reasearch, innovation and technology.
