To mark the 100th anniversary of quantum science and technology, UNESCO has declared 2025 the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology. As part of this year-long celebration, the Swiss Quantum Ecosystem has planned a weeklong series of specialized events from October 13-19 and the Quantum Industry Day in Switzerland is part of it.
The Quantum Industry Day in Switzerland gathers academic and industrial R&D to foster exchange and accelerate the development of new quantum products for inspiring keynote talks, panel discussions, and networking opportunities.
Large private and public investments are rapidly pushing quantum technologies out of labs and into real-world applications. Industrial actors are playing a key role: they provide the enabling technologies as well as the commercialization know-how driving this development.
The program covers the areas of quantum computing, quantum sensing, quantum instrumentation and quantum communication.

As part of the Swiss Quantum Week, QAI Ventures will be hosting a Hackathon in Geneva, October 17–19, co-organised with The Open Quantum Institute and CERN. This hackathon will be one of three in a Global Series across Europe, North America, and Singapore and will culminate with a final pitch at the SWITCH Conference by Enterprise Singapore.
The Global Hackathon Series is designed as a high-impact learning experience to engage GenQ - the next generation of quantum innovators. We will present challenges around the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that are connected with three industry verticals (Energy, Life Sciences, Finance), where we expect the highest impact of QuantumAI for real-world benefits.
Participants will:
- Work on real-world challenges linked to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
- Receive mentorship from top quantum experts, industry leaders, and researchers
- Collaborate in interdisciplinary teams across quantum physics, computer science, business, and beyond
- Run code on real quantum hardware and pitch their solutions to a jury of experts
- Compete for the chance to represent Switzerland at the global finals in Singapore
The hackathon is free to attend, includes meals and travel support, and offers free on-site sleeping options for participants.
