Paderborn fosters a forward-thinking academic and industrial environment, anchored by Paderborn University, a leading institution with expertise in computer science, high-performance computing, digital security, and quantum technologies. The university has a strong tradition of interdisciplinary research and maintains close collaborations with industry, making it a hub for cutting-edge technological advancements.
A key player in quantum research is the Institute for Photonic Quantum Systems (PhoQS) at Paderborn University. It focuses on the development of novel photonic quantum technologies with applications in quantum communication, quantum computing, and quantum sensing. With its interdisciplinary approach and state-of-the-art research infrastructure, the institute plays a crucial role in advancing quantum systems and fostering collaboration between academia and industry.Additionally, the SICP – Software Innovation Campus Paderborn drives progress in artificial intelligence, digital security, software systems, and the Internet of Things (IoT). SICP closely collaborates with the Paderborn Center for Parallel Computing (PC²), a National High-Performance Computing Center that advances interdisciplinary research in high-performance and parallel computing and computational sciences with novel methods and innovative computer systems. By connecting academia and industry, the SICP supports collaborative projects, technology transfer, and startup development. Together, these institutions create a strong research ecosystem that enables the development of cutting-edge digital and quantum technologies.PhoQS and SICP will co-host the European Quantum Summer School in Paderborn.For attendees of the European Quantum Summer School, Paderborn offers a unique combination of top-tier research, interdisciplinary innovation, and strong industry partnerships – providing an inspiring environment for learning, collaboration, and hands-on experience with the latest advancements in quantum and digital technologies.
